AEROSMITH REP DENIES JOE PERRY DELIBERATELY HIP-CHECKED STEVEN TYLER

aerosmith

A representative for Aerosmith is denying that reports that Joe Perry hip-checked Steven Tyler off stage last Tuesday (August 17th) during the band's show at Toronto's Air Canada Centre. Aerosmith's spokesperson told TMZ, "Joe wanted his fans to know he would never deliberately push Steven off the stage. (Joe is a) total gentleman."

Steven Tyler recently told us that he doesn't ever see a time when he'll retire from the road: "No, I don't know if I know how to do that. I know that Joe and I, we questioned it a couple of times about whether, you know, whether we would go out again. We took a year off. I remember I had hep-C (hepatitis-C) and decided to take a year off, and I literally got rid of it. I mean, it's one of the few miracles known to man. I kicked its ass."

Aerosmith tour dates (subject to change):
August 24 - Holmdel, NJ - PNC Bank Arts Center
August 26 - Syracuse, NY - New York State Fair
August 28 - Atlantic City, NJ - Boardwalk Hall

APOCALYPTICA 'AMAZED' THAT PEOPLE LIKE THEIR MUSIC

Apocalyptica's seventh studio effort, 7th Symphony, comes out around the world on Monday (August 23rd), but will arrive in the U.S. one day later on Tuesday (August 24th). The Finnish rock cello quartet was already popular throughout Europe before finally breaking through in the U.S. with its sixth record, Worlds Collide, in 2008. Drummer Mikko Siren says he still doesn't understand why the band finally struck a chord here: "I wouldn't know. Sometimes we are amazed ourselves why people feel for our music, but of course we are pleased and happy to do it, and I think we do it straight from our hearts. So maybe that's the thing, that people catch their emotions and stuff like that. And it's original, so maybe someone is appealed to that one as well."

Apocalyptica will launch a headlining North American tour Monday night in Toronto, finishing up on September 12th in Seattle.

The first single from 7th Symphony, called "End Of Me," features vocals from Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, who also appears in the song's video.

Other guest vocalists on 7th Symphony include Shinedown frontman Brent Smith and Flyleaf singer Lacey Mosley.

BLACK SABBATH REUNION GAINING MOMENTUM?

OzzyOsbourne4

It seems more and more like a reunion of the original Black Sabbath, whose members have not performed together since 2005, could be happening sooner rather than later. Singer Ozzy Osbourne is the latest to weigh in on the possibility, telling the Boston Globe, "I never say never. I spoke to (guitarist) Tony Iommi yesterday. I spoke to (bassist) Geezer Butler last week. I speak to (drummer) Bill Ward very frequently, he lives up the road from me. We're all talking and that's a good sign."

Ozzy also told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review about his relationship with the other members of Sabbath, "We're not at war with each other . . . I'm trying to get things done right, talking at least."

For their part, Ward said recently that "everyone has an open mind about touring again," while Butler told Hellbound.ca, "You know, it would be nice to finish the whole thing off with one last tour, I suppose. We're all getting a bit old now, so time is running out. It would be nice -- I wouldn't say no!"

Iommi told Sunday Mercury in July, "Ozzy and I have a complicated relationship but we've always kept in touch, no matter what else might have been going on. Would I play with Ozzy again? Who knows?"

Ozzy also added, "To be honest with you, I would love to do a killer Black Sabbath album. It would make my life, my whole thing, round up perfectly for me." But Ozzy also told us a while back that any new Sabbath project had to live up to the standards of the band's early, classic records: "If I had an album which blew Master Of Reality off the map, I'd be crazy not to do it. I don't want to put an album out, just for the sake of us four being on an album."

Ozzy is currently on a six-date mini-Ozzfest tour in support of his latest solo effort, Scream.

Iommi and Butler have played for the last four years in Sabbath offshoot Heaven & Hell, but that band came to an end in May with the death of singer Ronnie James Dio.

Iommi and Ozzy recently settled a legal dispute over the rights to the Black Sabbath name.

The original Sabbath last toured together in 2005 and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. Their last album together, Never Say Die!, came out in 1978.

BLINK-182 BASSIST PROMISES WORK RESUMING ON NEW ALBUM THIS FALL

Blink182(MarkHoppus)

Blink-182 bassist/singer Mark Hoppus told Spinner in a new interview that work will resume on a long-awaited new album after they return home from their first U.K. tour since reforming in early 2009. Hoppus said, "As soon as we get back from this tour we are continuing recording. Our goal is to turn it into the label by the end of the year, but we'll see how the recording goes. It could be sooner, or it could be a little later -- but the most important thing to us is to write a record that we absolutely believe in."

Asked what the record will sound like, Hoppus replied. "I think it'll probably be the next step beyond the last Blink-182 record. I think we'll always have a strong sense of melody and catchiness to our songs -- but we also want to try new things, but still keep Blink-182 as it's always been."

Blink reunited after a four-year hiatus, the band reconciling in part because of drummer Travis Barker's brush with death in a September 2008 plane crash.

Despite a successful reunion tour last summer and talk of new music, the band's first album since 2003 has yet to materialize.

Frontman Tom DeLonge issued a new record earlier this year from his other band, Angels & Airwaves, while Barker will release his solo debut this fall.

Hoppus told Spinner that the band has spent more time touring than working on a new record because "we wanted to get back to the point where we are a proper band, and not just three guys in the studio."

When asked if he thinks the punk trio is still relevant, Hoppus said, "Yeah I absolutely do . . . I was actually really humbled and surprised and floored at how great the reaction was when Blink-182 reformed. We didn't know if people would still care."

DISTURBED FRONTMAN SLAMS COLLECTORS OF NAZI MEMORABILIA

Disturbed(DavidDraiman)3

Disturbed vocalist David Draiman has strong words for rock musicians who collect Nazi memorabilia in a new interview with Revolver magazine. Draiman comes from an Orthodox Jewish family and has 200 relatives living in Israel, including his brother and grandmother. When asked about artists such as Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister and Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman who collect Nazi artifacts, Draiman said, "That's super-duper taboo and offensive to me. I don't understand the fascination. It's the most provocative imagery that you can brandish, and that's why people utilize it. And if that's their goal, I guess they're achieving it."

When told that Kilmister, who has been known to wear Iron Crosses and hats from the German air force, defends himself by saying he's just collecting artifacts of war history, Draiman replies, "I don't give a f*** who you are. If you're going to brandish Nazi symbolism, I'm going to have a problem with you because I don't understand how anybody could think it's OK to wear something on their body that symbolizes the annihilation and genocide of my people. I'm not OK with that and there is no excuse and there is no explanation."

When asked by New York Waste about collecting Nazi artifacts and uniforms, Kilmister said, "From the beginning of time, the bad guys always had the best uniforms. Napoleon, the Confederates, the Nazis. They all had killer uniforms. I mean, the SS uniform is f***ing brilliant! . . . Don't tell me I'm a Nazi 'cause I have uniforms. In 1967 I had my first black girlfriend and a lot more ever since then. I just don't understand racism, I never thought it was an option."

Draiman wrote a song about the Holocaust called "Never Again" for the band's new Asylum album, due out August 31st. He explained, "Both of my grandparents on my mother's side were survivors of the camps . . . I've got other relatives who are survivors, and my entire mother's side of the family, save my grandmother and grandfather and a couple of their siblings, were completely wiped out. So I felt it was important to write about it because I realized that the last generation of survivors is about to be lost."

RIVERS CUOMO SAYS WEEZER MIGHT PLAY FIRST TWO ALBUMS ON TOUR

Weezer(Rivers)

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has confirmed to MTV News that the band has plans to play its cult classic second album Pinkerton in its entirety on fall this tour -- but added that the group is not stopping there. Cuomo revealed that the band wants to play two nights in each city, performing its entire 1994 debut album -- also known as the "blue album" -- the first night and 1996's Pinkerton the second. Cuomo said, "We're just running it by promoters right now to see if there's sufficient interest in the markets to do something like that, and if they're on board, it's gonna happen."

Cuomo added that fan response will go a long way toward making the tour a reality, saying, "The fan response has been incredible so far . . . if they want to, they can contact their local promoter and tell them to make it happen."

There's no info yet on when or where the proposed two-album tour might start.

Cuomo confirmed rumors about the possible Pinkerton tour while the band was shooting a video for "Memories," the first single from its new album Hurley. The disc arrives on September 14th and marks the group's debut for Epitaph Records after 16 years with the Geffen label.

ROB ZOMBIE PLAYING VOICE OF GOD IN NEW MOVIE

RobZombie1

Rob Zombie may not be directing a new movie this year, but he's appearing in one...or at least his voice is. According to The Playlist, Zombie will play the voice of God in Super, the upcoming spoof of superhero movies starring Rainn Wilson from The Office, along with Ellen Page, Kevin Bacon, Liv Tyler, Nathan Fillion and others. Director James Gunn wrote on Twitter, "Cutting @RWZombie's voice into SUPER as the Voice of God! Typecasting, I know."

The movie, which will premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival, follows Wilson as an average guy who becomes the fake superhero The Crimson Bolt after his wife leaves him for a drug dealer.

Zombie's last stint behind the camera was 2009's Halloween II. Even though he's been attached to several projects since then, Zombie told us he's not making a new movie until 2011: "Well, this year is very filled with touring. I mean, the rest of the year will all be touring, touring, touring. You know, I'm just trying to put together the next movie, I'm not sure what it is yet. That'll be sometime in 2011. So once that's all together I'll announce it, but I'm not sure yet. I really made a conscious effort to dedicate this year to just the music."

Zombie recently completed the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour with co-headliners Korn and will next hit the road with Alice Cooper in late September.

Zombie has been on tour behind his fourth solo studio album, Hellbilly Deluxe 2.
